Banana Bread Recipe

Here's an easy banana bread recipe for you to try, if you are looking for a simple and deliciously moist dessert bread.

This moist banana bread recipe is a smart way to use up fruit that would otherwise be destined for the compost bin. In fact, it's best to use over-ripe fruit, the ones with brownish-black peels. No, over-ripe bananas don't look or smell at all appetizing, but that's the secret to moist and delicious bread.

Enjoy this simple dessert with a steaming hot mug of tea or coffee, for a pleasant end to a simple evening meal.

To make this recipe for banana bread you will need:

1/2 cup butter, softened

1 cup white sugar

2 eggs

5 to 6 over-ripe bananas, mashed

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

Preheat oven to 350 F .

Grease and flour one 9x5 inch loaf pan.

Cream butter and sugar until smooth.

Beat in eggs, then bananas.

Add flour and soda, stirring just until combined.

Pour into prepared pan and bake for about 60 minutes or more depending on your oven. The top should be golden in color. Test for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the middle of the cake if it comes out without any undercooked batter clinging to it, the bread is done.

Let bread cool for about 10 minutes and then remove from pan.

This dessert bread serves 12 to 14.
