How to steam green beans: Trim tough stringy ends from green beans Cut beans into 2-inch lengths In a large pot fitted with a steamer basket, bring 1 inch of water to a boil Add beans to the steamer basket and cover Steam until tender, about 5 minutes or until crisp-tender Drain steamed beans and place in a serving dish.
