For steamed green beans you will need:

1 pound fresh green beans

1 ½ teaspoons fresh lemon juice

1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil

Salt and freshly cracked black pepper to your taste


How to steam green beans:

Trim tough stringy ends from green beans

Cut beans into 2-inch lengths

In a large pot fitted with a steamer basket, bring 1 inch of water to a boil

Add beans to the steamer basket and cover

Steam until tender, about 5 minutes or until crisp-tender

Drain steamed beans and place in a serving dish.

Drizzle extra-virgin olive oil and lemon juice over steamed vegetables and gently toss to coat.

Season green beans with coarse salt and freshly ground black pepper.
