Gnocchi Sauce

This simple gnocchi sauce can of course be a substitute for any pasta sauce recipe.

Whether you decide to make it with homemade gnocchi or any other pasta of your choice from ravioli to fettucine, or even your favorite supermarket brand, we think you'll enjoy it.

There is just something about the earthy fragrance of sage that conjures up images of autumn, and this simple gnocchi sage recipe will fill your kitchen with wonderful aromas whatever time of year you choose to make it.

For this brown butter sauce you will need:

1 pound gnocchi, or pasta of your choice

8 tablespoons butter, 1 stick

Handful of fresh sage leaves

Salt and cracked black pepper to taste.

¼ cup freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese

Put gnocchi on to boil.

In large skillet, over medium-high heat, warm butter.

Add sage leaves.

Heat until butter is golden brown in color and sage leaves are crisp.

With a slotted spoon, strain cooked gnocchi, add to skillet, and heat through.

Add cheese and toss to coat.

This gnocchi recipe serves 4.
