Recipe for Chocolate Pudding
Every home cook needs a simple recipe for chocolate pudding. In fact, you probably have most of these ingredients on hand already.Tip: To turn this chocolate pudding into a chocolate pie, pour partially cooled pudding into an 8-inch baked pie shell. Refrigerate it for a couple of hours until it sets and then serve it with a dollop of whipped cream.
For this chocolate pudding recipe you will need: 3 cups milk (whole or partially skimmed) 1/4 cup granulated sugar 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder 3 tablespoons cornstarch 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 tablespoons butter
In a heavy saucepan, warm milk over medium heat until steaming and almost boiling. Meanwhile, stir or sift together sugar, cocoa and cornstarch until no tiny lumps remain. Add to saucepan and cook, stirring constantly, until bubbling and thickened. In a medium bowl, whisk eggs well; stir in a little of the hot milk mixture. Return egg mixture to saucepan and cook, stirring constantly, over medium-low heat until just beginning to bubble again. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla and butter. Pour into serving dish; let cool for 15 to 30 minutes before covering and refrigerating. This pudding recipe serves 4 to 6
